Terms of use
The short version
These terms apply when you use MoneyPlanIt, including the website, the app and a free account. They’re written to be read. If anything is unclear, email your contact email.
- MoneyPlanIt is education only. Nothing here is financial advice or a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
- Investing and trading put your money at risk. Any decision you make is your own.
- Accounts are free and for adults (18 or over). Keep your email account secure, because it’s how you log in.
- Please don’t misuse the site, copy our lessons to republish them, or try to break or overload it.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Who we are
MoneyPlanIt is run by your name or business name (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at your contact email.
By using the site or app you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them.
Education, not advice
Everything on MoneyPlanIt, including lessons, quizzes, the Research Library, guides and the Pattern Trainer, is general education. It explains how investments and trading strategies work. It doesn’t take your circumstances into account and isn’t personal advice, a recommendation or an invitation to buy, sell or hold any investment.
We’re not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to give financial advice. If you want advice for your situation, speak to a regulated financial adviser.
Investing and trading involve risk. Prices can fall as well as rise, you may get back less than you put in, and some products can lose you more than you put in. Past performance, backtests and research results don’t guarantee future results. Examples and Pattern Trainer prices are illustrative or simulated, not real market data.
Accuracy
We work hard to keep the content accurate and up to date, and we explain how on our How we check facts page. Rules, tax allowances, fees and products change, though, and mistakes can happen. Check important details with the official source before you rely on them. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
Free accounts
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- Use your own email address, and only one account per person.
- You log in with a one-time code sent to your email, so keep your email account secure. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Progress page (or Settings in the app). Our privacy policy explains what we keep and for how long.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, for example one used to abuse the site.
Using the site fairly
Please don’t:
- try to hack, break, overload or get around the security of the site, the app or our accounts system
- use bots or scrapers to copy content or create accounts in bulk
- pretend to be someone else, or use the site for anything unlawful, including scams or misleading financial promotions
- cheat the quizzes or progress system in ways that affect other people, such as leaderboards if we add them
Our content
The lessons, quizzes, guides, research summaries, charts, design, logo and the Pattern Trainer are owned by us or used with permission. You’re welcome to read and use them for your own learning, share links, and quote short extracts with a credit and a link back.
Please don’t copy, republish, sell or build a product from our content without our written permission.
Links to other websites
We link to regulators, research and other sites so you can check our sources. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content. If we ever include affiliate links, they’ll be clearly labelled.
Changes to the service
MoneyPlanIt is free to use. We may add, change or remove lessons and features, and we may pause the service for maintenance. If we introduce paid features, they’ll come with their own clear terms and prices before you pay anything.
Our responsibility to you
We provide MoneyPlanIt as general education. We aren’t responsible for investment or trading decisions you make, or for any losses from them, because the content isn’t advice about your situation.
We aren’t responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is important, we’ll tell account holders by email or on the site.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you have a complaint, please email us first and we’ll try to sort it out.
